Now Apple is stepping up its online TV plans with the launch of a slimmed down $30 to $ 40 a month 25-channel service anchored by the likes of ABC, CBS and Fox, the report says.
Apple's new service will likely launch in the fall and although there are no firm details, the Journal reports that the service would be able to stream channels live to Apple TV, iPhones and iPads and devices using Apple's iOS. The slimmed- down service would include well-known channels like CBS, ESPN and FX, leaving out the dozens of smaller channels found in a standard cable package.

The service will reportedly work with Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. It won’t include channels like NBC, USA and Bravo because of a dispute between Apple and Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, the Journal reported. The two had previously worked on a similar service until Apple began to feel like Comcast was wasting its time while developing its own smart set-top box and Apple TV replacement called the Xfinity X1.
Apple's TV service will include major networks like ABC, CBS and Fox, but NBCUniversal and all channels falling under that umbrella are notably missing from the roster. That's because Comcast owns NBCUniversal, and the two haven't worked out their differences yet.
