How Much Do You Know About Amlogic S905X TV Box

     As we all known, Android tv boxes chipped by S905X have been coming in the market soon.
     As a Android TV Box Manufacturer, we received the documentation 3 months ago from them to help engineers to design the motherboard.

     I just searched S905X on Google but unfortunately there is very little helpful imformation and most of them are with wrong specifications.
     So I am just going to renew official final specifications from wrong specs over the Internet.
Actually S905X is not like a cost effective model based on S905 like people reviewed it before. Because the chipsets are exactly same quad core Cortex A53 2.0GHz 64bit and the same penta core Mali-450.
      So it is not with 1.5GHz as most of wrong information shows over the Internet.
Also S905X supports all decoder format that S905 supports, however S905X supports Google VP9 decoding while S905 not.
      Here I want to talk more about VP9 and H265. It is like like HDMI versus DisplayPort
      H.265 was developed as the ‘HEVC’ (High Efficiency Video Coding) format. It was approved as the official successor to H.264. Like H.264, the codec must be licenced with hardware manufacturers and software developers paying a fee.
      So as a manufacturer, of course we are for V9, because VP9 is open source and free. It was developed by Google as a successor to VP8.
      Which one is better? In a word, H.265 has higher image quality while VP9 is more reliable for streaming.
Back to S905X, As our engineers told me all tv boxes chipped by S905X will come with Android 6.0,and S905 tv box comes with Android 5.1.
      Acutually S905 supports Android 6.0, but at this moment, all engineers are working on Android 6.0 on S905X and S912. So it would be a while that S905 will still come with Android 5.1.
      So it would be two new features added to S905X that you could feel it. Yes, VP9 Decoding and Android 6.0.
